BELLA II project and the creation of a new NREN in Peru were discussed at Edutic Lima

The challenges of disruptive innovation in education was the theme of the IV Edutic International Seminar, which took place in Lima, Peru, on 26 and 27 September, with the participation of RedCLARA's Director of International Cooperation, Academic Relations, and Communications, Mark Urban,  who gave a presentation on the progress of the BELLA II project and the possibilities of creating a new National Research and Education Network (NREN) in the country.

The Edutic International Seminar brought together more than 300 actors involved in regional education, to share experiences and reflections on the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation. The seminar covered topics such as artificial intelligence, new educational formats, and risks for the development of educational projects, among others.

Speaking at the event , Urban emphasizes that the BELLA II project aims to expand digital infrastructure and ensure adequate connectivity for countries in the region, including Peru, as well as Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.. Mark Urban also spoke about the progress and steps towards the creation of the new NREN in Peru, inviting participants to join the upcoming strategic dialogues that will strengthen relationships among institutions and promote advanced connectivity in the country.

Discussions on the development of the NREN continued at a meeting attended by RedCLARA delegates (Mark Urban, RedCLARA's NREN Liaison Manager Cecilia Ortiz Macías), and the authorities of Science and Technology, Economy, and Foreign Affairs of Peru,  such as María Arce, Director of Science and Technology at Peru's General Directorate of Economic Affairs, and Yuri Aldoradin Carbajal, Advisor to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Other experts present at Edutic Lima included Marushka Chocobar, Peru's former Secretary of Government and Digital Transformation, Gonzalo Galdos, President of IPAE Acción Empresarial, and international consultant Diego Cardona.
